Ram Wools has a 32 year history of bringing great yarn and service to the knitting and crotchet community.

Ram Wools has established a reputation as one of Canada's premier yarn stores and mail order retailers. Now, we are going to keep up that reputation while becoming a worker owned cooperative. No membership is required to shop and you will deal directly with the owners!

Two things heavily contributed to Ram Wools transformation. First and foremost are the members of the knitting community and the incredible feedback and words of encouragement. Without you we are nothing. Secondly, going with a co-op model allowed us all to feel a part of something greater than ourselves. We have a direct stake in Ram Wools success and co-operating without hierarchy means that the best ideas come to the surface much more rapidly. It's also a highly empowering feeling!

In order to understand the present we need to know the history of Ram Wools. It was a twinkle in the eye of Inge Gaspard when she opened a weaving shop in the seventies. It became apparent to her that more and more people were asking for hand knitting yarn. After all, you can't put a great big loom in a tote bag and carry it around with you. Being a textile artist, she was also struck by the enormous creativity and endless possibilities that knitters were capable of. Ram Wools was born. For 32 years, Inge built Ram Wools from a local yarn shop into an international mail order company with a large retail shop, supplying a wide range of top quality yarn to knitters all across North America. We are so honoured and grateful that we have been given the opportunity to carry on this legacy. Thank you, Inge.
